The steps to creating a RAL Quality Mark (RAL Gütezeichen) start with contacting us to find out whether a suitable Quality Mark (Gütezeichen) already exists or whether we can develop a new one together. We will explain the individual steps from application to approval and issuing. If there already is an existing Quality Mark (Gütezeichen), you will undergo a testing procedure and become a member of an existing RAL Quality Assurance Association (RAL Gütegemeinschaft).

If you wish to create a new Quality Mark (Gütezeichen), RAL will provide you with all the details of the necessary procedure in a detailed information meeting. The contents and scope of the planned quality assurance system (scope of validity) will then be determined. Total duration of the process: approx. 6 - 9 months

Application and Processing

The next step is to submit a Quality Mark (Gütezeichen) application form, which will be processed by RAL. The Quality Assurance and Test Specifications (Güte- und Prüfbestimmungen) for the new Quality Mark (Gütezeichen) will be developed. In addition, the graphic design of the planned RAL Quality Mark (RAL Gütezeichen) will be jointly developed in a uniform RAL corporate design.

Found a RAL Quality Assurance Association (RAL Gütegemeinschaft) as a registered association with other interested companies from your sector. The RAL Quality Assurance Association (RAL Gütegemeinschaft) is entered in the register of associations (Vereinsregister).

Development of the Quality Assurance and Test Specifications (Güte- und Prüfbestimmungen) and Approval of the Quality Mark (Gütezeichen)

RAL Quality Marks (RAL Gütezeichen) process chart: 4. Approval
Develop the specific quality requirements and test methods for the new Quality Mark (Gütezeichen) together with the Quality Association (Gütegemeinschaft) and professional and commercial groups (Fach- und Verkehrskreise). RAL approves the new Quality Mark (RAL Gütezeichen) after checking aspects relating to association, antitrust and competition law.

Membership in RAL

RAL Quality Marks (RAL Gütezeichen) process chart: 5. Membership
The newly founded and approved Quality Assurance Association (Gütegemeinschaft) becomes a member of RAL Deutsches Institut für Gütesicherung und Kennzeichnung e. V. RAL publishes the RAL Quality Assurance system, which is available to all interested parties. The new Quality Mark (RAL Gütezeichen) is published in the German Federal Gazette (Bundesanzeiger) and the Overview of Quality Marks issued by RAL. The RAL Quality Mark will also be registered as a trademark.

Issuing of the Quality Mark (Gütezeichen)

RAL Quality Marks (RAL Gütezeichen) process chart: 6. Certificate
The new Quality Mark (Gütezeichen) is issued to companies by the Quality Assurance Association (Gütegemeinschaft) after a successful initial inspection to confirm adherence with the Quality Assurance (Gütesicherung). The Quality Assurance Association (Gütegemeinschaft) continuously monitors compliance with the Quality Assurance and Test Specifications (Güte- und Prüfbestimmungen).
