RAL Agreements

RAL Agreements are developed through a complex process. Every affected party is fully involved in the draft versions and provided with information for their approval or rejection. The RAL Agreement only comes into force once all parties have agreed to its content.

• RAL Agreements serve the purpose of eliminating misunderstandings in the trade and movement of goods.
• In addition to the relevant professional and trade groups (manufacturers, retail trade, consumers, authorities, testing institutions), all chambers of the Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce (DIHK) are consulted.
• The complex development process for RAL Agreements allows the courts the opportunity to view their content as standard commercial practice. Non-observance of the RAL Agreements in commercial trade is viewed by the courts as a violation against the provisions of competition law.
