What lies behind RAL QUALITY MARKS

How can you be sure that the products or services you choose are reliable, technically up to date and environmentally friendly? RAL Quality Marks (RAL Gütezeichen) make this possible. They demonstrate to consumers, companies and public authorities that products and services meet strict and precisely defined quality criteria.

For each product or service, RAL establishes the requirements for the relevant Quality Mark through an approval process. This process involves manufacturers, suppliers, retailers, consumers, testing institutes and public authorities. The quality criteria specific to each product or service cover all aspects that are important for use. RAL publishes these criteria and makes them available to all.

Independent and self-monitoring ensure the quality of RAL Quality Marks

The individual Quality Marks are awarded by the relevant RAL Quality Assurance Association (RAL Gütegemeinschaft) to manufacturers and service providers. In an initial audit, they must prove that they meet the relevant Quality Assurance and Test Specifications (Güte- und Prüfbestimmungen). They are then obliged to carry out continuous internal monitoring of the criteria and to have them checked regularly by a neutral, external body. This ensures the high quality standards that products or services with the RAL Quality Mark meet.

Whether you are a consumer or a business, RAL Quality Marks make it easier to find reliable, high-quality products and services. Quality Marks exist in almost all areas of the economy, including the construction industry, the service sector, agriculture, and the food industry. More than 13,000 companies worldwide use this transparent labelling system. This demonstrates the diversity of RAL Quality Marks and their importance as a mark of quality.

Currently, there are 150 RAL Quality Marks in use on many thousands of product labels and by service providers. With RAL Quality Marks, you get, among other things:
